IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS FOR VIDEO TECHNOLOGY, VOL. XX, NO. Y, SEPTEMBER 1998 Summarization of Video-taped Presentations: Automatic Analysis of Motion and Gesture Shanon X. Ju, Michael J. Black, Scott Minneman, Don Kimber Abstract| This paper presents an automatic system for analyzing and annotating video sequences of technical talks. Our method uses a robust motion estimation technique to detect key frames and segment the video sequence into subsequences containing a single overhead slide. The subsequences are stabilized to remove motion that occurs when the speaker adjusts their slides. Any changes remaining between frames in the stabilized sequences may be due to speaker gestures such as pointing or writing and we use active contours to automatically track these potential gestures. Given the constrained domain we de ne a simple set of actions that can be recognized based on the active contour shape and motion. The recognized actions provide an annotation of the sequence that can be used to access a condensed version of the talk from a web page. Keywords|Automatic Video Annotation, Video Summarization, Robust Motion Estimation, Keyframe Detection, Gesture Tracking and Recognition.

A survey on Automatic Text Summarization
Text summarization endeavors to produce a summary version of a text, while maintaining the original ideas. The textual content on the web, in particular, is growing at an exponential rate. The ability to decipher through such massive amount of data, in order to extract the useful information, is a major undertaking and requires an automatic mechanism to aid with the extant repository of informa...

متن کاملEvent Detection and Automatic Summarization in Soccer Video
In this paper we propose a new complex method for automatic football video summarization, the method we have provided here does the summarizing by tow other methods, one of them do that by detecting the events and other one do that without detecting the events. One of the tools the second method used to do this was distinguishing between the views of the goal and the field-center and the first ...
متن کاملVideo summarization using motion descriptors
We describe a technique for video summarization that uses motion descriptors computed in the compressed domain to speed up conventional color based video summarization technique. The basic hypothesis of the work is that the intensity of motion activity of a video segment is a direct indication of its “summarizability.” We present experimental verification of this hypothesis. We are thus able to...
متن کاملAn Improved Motion Vector Estimation Approach for Video Error Concealment Based on the Video Scene Analysis
In order to enhance the accuracy of the motion vector (MV) estimation and also reduce the error propagation issue during the estimation, in this paper, a new adaptive error concealment (EC) approach is proposed based on the information extracted from the video scene. In this regard, the motion information of the video scene around the degraded MB is first analyzed to estimate the motion type of...
